The City College Times won six awards at the Journalism Association of Community Colleges state competition.

  • General excellence award for the City College Times staff
  • 2nd place: Column writing, Jordan Harris
  • 2nd place: Front page layout, Madison Wilber, Juan Carlos Cortez, Jordan Harris
  • 4th place: Webcast/broadcast news, Lidia Rocha
  • Honorable mention: Video journalism, Juan Carlos Cortez
  • Honorable mention: Copy editing, Madison Wilber

The awards were presented as part of the Associated Collegiate Press National College Media Conference in Long Beach from March 3-5, which includes the California Community College Media Awards as well as the JACC.

Student journalists joined from all across the nation to listen to professional journalists who gave advice on how to be better writers, leaders, editors and journalists.

The Times also received six awards from the California College Media Association.

  • 2nd place: Best multimedia package, Juan Carlos Cortez, Madison Wilber
  • 2nd place: Best online advertisement, Juan Carlos Cortez
  • 2nd place: Best print advertisement, Juan Carlos Cortez
  • 3rd place: Best non-news video, Lidia Rocha
  • 3rd place: Best special issue/section, Madison Wilber, Juan Carlos Cortez, Jordan Harris, Emmanuel Becerril
