The Times has received two comments on the newspaper’s website associating the photo of the hair show winner’s costume, “Dances with Wolves,” as “racist.” The readers were offended by the designer’s depiction of a Hollywood rendition of traditional Native American attire.
The Times cannot respond on the nature of the costume; our role is to document events entirely. The proper avenue to address such concerns would be with the Cosmetology Department, and moreover with the costume designer directly.
