Eco Pass gets sent back to the drawing board after being removed from the upcoming General Election ballot.

Mike Casas got word on Monday that the Eco Pass would not be included in Tuesday’s board meeting on April 23.

This means a special election for Eco Pass will not be held in time for the fall 2013 semester.

Victor Garza, director of student life, wrote in an email, several unresolved issues had come up. First, the issues include numerous errors in the draft contract provided  by the Valley Transportation Authority. These were errors that do not comply with California Education Code.

Second, legal counsel advises against using the transportation fee to pay for marketing and other administrative costs.  Marketing included an advertisement that will go on the side of the buses promoting the school Eco Pass program.

The Evergreen Valley College Associated Student Government must vote to approve providing the backfill for the transportation fees not collected by the colleges. The San Jose City College Associated Government has approved this.

Garza said a special election is possible during the fall of 2013 semester.
