Nguyen said, “First I would like to take this time to express my deep appreciation to Dr. Byron Breland and Professor Eve Mathias, Gallery Coordinator at SJCC and former professor for allowing his art to be viewed in the Carmen Castellano Fine Arts room, SJCC.”

Nguyen said, “Art is art, passion is photography.  It’s like a reality life.” His progression in art goes back to receiving the 2006 Best of Show Award, which was printed in the City College Times Newspaper previously.

Apparently, it took over 2 years to reserve the room.

This was a special event in honor of the children with disabilities in Vietnam and earthquake survivors of Nepal.  The exhibition presents images of life in many different perspectives such as landscape, nature and people.  The event was Nguyen’s fifth time presenting an art exhibit where all his net proceeds go to assist the children affected.  The non-profit organization aligned with this event is BeCause.

Trisha La, the Events and Public Relations Director of BeCause had much appreciation to say about the exhibit along with Nguyen’s effort to support their organization.

La said, “The non-profit organization was formed by a young group of professionals whom focused on assisting Vietnam villages with school supplies, water filtration system, building bridges, they’ve assisted more than 4000 students, towns and murals; with the last two years concentrating on school funding to help educate the children for better futures.  BeCause will be holding their first charitable event on Oct. 23 at the Hotel Valencia at Santana Row.”

Mathias has known Nguyen since 2006.  He was just a new young artist but Mathias saw his enthusiasm and determination, as he never gave up.

“The word for Andy is ‘Persistence,’” Mathias said.
