Student heads donation drive

When thinking about Thanksgiving, most have visions of turkey, sweet potato and pumpkin pie. However others who are less fortunate and do not have a place to stay warm when it’s Thanksgiving night. Thanksgiving is a day to enjoy a delicious dinner, be grateful and have a good time with loved ones and friends.

For other people like Andy Nguyen, Thanksgiving means giving back to those less fortunate.

“I make this for the homeless and needy people”, Nguyen said. This was the third year Nguyen runs the donation drive, which started again Oct 28th. All the clothes and canned food goes for the people of Sacred Heart Community Center, Nguyen said. This year he got the help of the A.S officers and Priscilla Santos, guidance professor at San Jose City College. Santos was a tremendous help for Nguyen, who asked all her students to make donations.

“I’m very thankful to all the students and campus staff who helped and donated to the homeless this year.” He also added, “Thank you to professor Priscilla Santos who supported me with this.”

Nguyen mentioned he had to call Sacred Heart community center two times because they received a lot more clothes than what he had expected and it made him feel content that it all worked out well.
