Volunteers plug into opportunity with GoVoluntr.com
Many students are looking for ways to change the world, GoVoluntr, com is a great tool to help connect with needs in our community.
GoVoluntr.com, spelling intentional, is an online platform for connecting nonprofits, businesses and volunteers for social good, according to Caroline Abellar, Community Manager. A wide range of options are available.
Some examples include staffing festivals, tutoring children, administrative assistance, or even more technical things like helping with web site upkeep.
“Our opportunities fit with any kind of schedule whether you are a student or business professional,” said Abellar, “and we have events where you can bring your kids to volunteer.”
Existing volunteers include a variety of your neighbors from all around the South Bay and Peninsula, with current expansions into San Francisco and Southern California in the works.
GoVoluntr.com has a rewards system where you earn points for completing volunteer work. “We call them volunteer pins, and each come with different point badges so the more volunteer work you do the more badges you earn,” said Kevin Zittle, Chief Technology Officer for GoVolunteer. Rewards points are redeemable for a variety of items such as free cups of coffee, movie tickets or dinner at a local restaurant.
