Inez Acevedo started playing basketball when she was five years old and played for Independence High School. Acevedo said her current coach, Terri Oberg, says her style is similar to Erika de Souza, a professional basketball player with the Atlanta Dream. She said basketball has taught her persistence and tenacity, as well as how to work with others. Besides basketball and her looming decision about whether to play for a four-year school because of knee injuries, she is graduating this semester and plans on becoming a probation officer or social worker.
