The Associated Student council and its candidates have done an injustice to the school by allowing this graffiti for the May 2-3 election.
With almost every tile in front to the students center covered in repetitive demands to vote for students of the AS, and those who want to join the senate, it looks unattractive and childish.
One of the students thought that the chalk was leftover from one of the Kindercaminata events, then finally got to the library and saw so much more chalk telling people of SJCC to vote for a treasurer or vice president.
At that moment, a lot of respect was lost for the AS and the candidates running to represent the school. Where is the line between this and graffiti; at least graffiti can be anesthetically pleasing sometimes.
Yes, we understand some of the members of AS thought they were being creative, but its just another way of defaming the campus. Although, it is washable chalk it is not supposed to rain for a while, so what happens after the election when all their “campaigning” is still spanning from the Technology Center to the softball field; or when a small rain comes and just turns it in to illegible blotches on our pavement?
The AS and the candidates involved should clean up their mess after the election, and next time use the resources outlined in their budget, including paints, signs and talents, to make pretty, informative signs or banners.
How can we vote for someone we can walk all over, especially when we know nothing about them?
