From the forest fires in the Brazilian rain forest to the steady loss of recycling options here in the U.S., we need to do more for the environment. With global warming becoming more of  a rising concern for the general public (I mean have you looked at the weather lately?). Now is the time for your voices to be heard as well.

On Friday, Sept. 20th at 2:45pm, a march will take place in Downtown San Jose beginning at the Diridon Station to San Jose City Hall. This rally climate strike rally for the city is built upon the youth, but all ages are welcomed to show their support and to volunteer to help at the event so that more people become more aware of this issue.

The event’s website has further information about the event and why people should partake in the rally so that politicians will notice how important this issue is to the public. The main goals stated on the site are for schools, local government, and tech companies to “take immediate action to be carbon neutral by 2025 and ensure a socially and environmentally just transition off of fossil fuels”.

It is very important for voices to be heard on our concern about the environment because of the limited ways in helping the environment. With recycling plants beginning to shut down in the U.S., landfills are going to fill up faster because of the lack of proper recycling infrastructure.

Consider here in San Jose, the Ranch Town Recycling Center located on Lincoln Avenue  no longer accepts plastic bottles, or even aluminum cans. More solutions must be considered to lessen the destructive effects humanity has on the environment. By putting pressure on the government. There must be encouragement for the government to find more Eco-friendly solutions.
