The track and field team battled the weather at the Coast Conference Championships and made its presence known with three conference champions.<\/p>\n
The meet took place at City College of San Mateo from April 23 to\u00a0April 26.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe wind played a big role,\u201d said David Flynn, head coach.<\/p>\n
Sophomore Alyana Nicolas won the pole vault, being the only one to make a jump at a height of 2.94 meters.<\/p>\n
Freshman Keanu Foki won the discus-throw event with a distance of 47.11 meters. Foki finished first of 15 participants and won by a deficit of 6.18 meters.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe used the wind to his advantage,\u201d Flynn said.<\/p>\n
Sophomore Lindsay McKee won the hammer-throw with a distance of 51.87 meters.<\/p>\n
Other standouts include Sophomore Jayme Gonzalez, who excelled in the discus-throw, javelin-throw, shot put and hammer-throw.<\/p>\n
