Lana Del Rey fans camped outside the venue and fought to be closer to the stage to see their idol perform her first show in the Bay Area.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t deserve you, but i\u2019m gonna take it anyways,\u201d Del Rey said to the crowd of aggressively enthusiastic fans.<\/p>\n
She performed 14 songs throughout a 70-minute show at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco on April 18.<\/p>\n
The San Francisco crowd was one of the first to hear her new single \u201cWest Coast\u201d performed live. This was Del Rey\u2019s third time performing it.<\/p>\n
Del Rey enters the stage wearing a loose-fitting summer dress. The show began with the vulgar opening line from \u201cCola.\u201d<\/p>\n
The stage looked like an enchanted forest with several trees, a wicker chair, three band members and a large screen that played footage of the concert and music videos to accompany her performance.<\/p>\n
Del Rey performed all her hits except \u201cBurning Desire.\u201d<\/p>\n
One standout moment came during \u201cMillion Dollar Man,\u201d when Del Rey\u2019s voice soared at the end to hit a note that was not \u00a0on the studio version.<\/p>\n
This concert was different from most pop shows. Del Rey focused heavily on the music and lyrics instead of stage tricks, dancing and stage outfits.<\/p>\n
“It is important to look past the lights, glitter and dance and find a song that truly speaks to you. With Lana Del Rey you have music with stories that you can relate to,\u201d show attendee Richard Moreno, 23, business administration student said.<\/p>\n
Del Rey\u2019s show is not energetic. Her main selling point is songs that are full of emotion performed live.<\/p>\n
The show\u2019s energy stayed low. Song choices should have been more diverse to help make the show more dynamic.<\/p>\n
The most popular songs, \u201cRide,\u201d \u201dSummertime Sadness,\u201d \u201cVideo Games\u201d and \u201cNational Anthem\u201d were saved for last.<\/p>\n
The concert had no opening acts, no breaks and no encore.<\/p>\n
Toward the end of the show, Del Rey engaged with the fans who\u00a0were close to the stage and signed many items and shook hands with them.<\/p>\n
While \u00a0Del Rey sounded and looked great, her show could benefit from more energy and adding songs that have variety of sounds.<\/p>\n
