Campus expands creativity<\/p>\n
After two years of being inactive, the San Jose City College art club will resume educating and supporting students who are interested in art.<\/p>\n
The club is motivated in covering all fields of art including fine art, studio art, graphic art, painting, ceramics, media arts, film, photography, performance art and more.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want members of the club to influence what the workshops are and what the club plans,\u201d club president Christyne Pritchard, 35, art major said.<\/p>\n
The club meetings are held every second and fourth Monday 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Fine Arts Building, room 214.
\nThe club would like to focus on having activities related to the current holidays.<\/p>\n
For its first activity of the semester, the club plans on doing a workshop for decorating cookies and Valentine\u2019s Day cards.<\/p>\n
The art club welcomes non-art students who want to be social and make crafty projects. Bringing friends to workshops and activities is encouraged.<\/p>\n
Pritchard said she would like to have an open mic or talent contest around March. This event would focus on dance, theater, music, poetry and other types of performance arts.<\/p>\n
\u201cI hope to see a community where we can teach and learn from one another,\u201d club member Sean Foley, 19, deaf studies major said.<\/p>\n
Students with experience in an art or craft will get to lead the workshops and help other students.<\/p>\n

Club adviser Eve Mathias said she is interested in planning field trips for the club. Visiting museums, attending plays and visiting local events are some ideas club members have for fields trips.<\/p>\n
The club is embracing students of all skill levels.<\/p>\n
