Spears changes sound for eighth album<\/p>\n
Britney Spears released what she says is her \u201cmost personal album yet\u201d today (Dec. 3).<\/p>\n
The lead single, \u201cWork B****,\u201d gave fans a different impression. The up-tempo gym anthem only peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, while Spears\u2019 last two lead singles reached No. 1.<\/p>\n
\u201c\u2018Britney Jean,\u2019 her first album released in her thirties, is a subtle shift away from frantic bangers and into more forthright songwriting,\u201d Jason Lipshutz wrote for Billboard.com.<\/p>\n
The second single, \u201cPerfume,\u201d written by Sia Furler and produced by Will.I.Am, is about Spears\u2019 ending a relationship, but still wanting the guy to remember her.<\/p>\n
\u201cEveryone’s been through an insecure moment in a relationship that’s left them vulnerable and I think this song captures that,” Spears said in an interview with E! News.<\/p>\n
Joseph Kanh, director of Spears\u2019 \u201cToxic\u201d and \u201cWomanizer\u201d music videos, will also be directing the \u201cPerfume\u201d video that will be released soon, according to Spears\u2019 Facebook.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlien,\u201d the opening track on the CD, is a mid-tempo song about finding love after feeling lonely. Spears vocally stretches the notes, \u201cThe stars in sky look like home \/ take me home \/ the light in your eyes lets me know I\u2019m not alone.\u201d<\/p>\n
Similarly, \u201cPassenger\u201d is a wavy mid-tempo track about love.<\/p>\n
Spears has three vocal collaborations for this album, includding Will.I.Am in the robotic-voiced track, \u201cIt Should Be Easy\u201d<\/p>\n
Rapper T.I. contributes to the sensual urban hit in \u201cTik Tik Boom.\u201d<\/p>\n
Spears joins forces with her younger sister Jamie Lynn in \u201cChillin\u2019 with You.\u201d The sisters sing the lyrics, \u201cI drank some red wine \/ Now I\u2019m walking on the sky \/ I\u2019ve had the time of my life\u201d in the song about sisterhood and friendship.<\/p>\n
Jamie Lynn recently made her breakthrough into the music industry with the release of her pleasantly surprising country single \u201cHow Could I Want More.\u201d<\/p>\n
The album also contains epic dance tracks including \u201cBody Ache,\u201d and the dramatic \u201cTil It\u2019s Gone.\u201d<\/p>\n
One of the stand-out tracks, \u201cTil it\u2019s Gone,\u201d contains everything Britney fans would expect including a rhythmical beat, emotional background and excellent production.<\/p>\n
The standard edition contains 10 tracks while the deluxe edition contains 14.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow that I Found You,\u201d one of the deluxe tracks, is dynamic and full of life.<\/p>\n
\u201c(I) love, love, love, \u2018Now That I Found You,\u2019 the coolest slow-jam turned Nyan Cat-inspired Britney Jean Deluxe track,\u201d wrote Jordan Miller, creator of Spears\u2019 fan page Breatheheavy.com.<\/p>\n
The reviews of the album appear to be positive, but Spears is hardly promoting this album.<\/p>\n
Compared to other female pop acts, she is doing the bare minimum to promote her new project. She hasn\u2019t performed any of the new material and is only doing a few televised interviews.<\/p>\n
The Pop Queen will start her Las Vegas residency show, \u201cBritney: Piece of Me,\u201d on Dec. 27.<\/p>\n
Spears signed a $15 million per year contract to perform 100 shows throughout 2014 and 2015, according to the Huffington Post. Prices for the show range from $59 to $179.<\/p>\n
\u201cBritney Jean\u201d is a fresh change of pace for Spears. While her last record, \u201cFemme Fatale\u201d sold well, it lacked meaningful lyrics and strong vocals that are present in this new album.<\/p>\n
As an artist, Britney Spears is taking the much needed step of branching out and experimenting with her sound. It May not be her best album to date, but she courageously bares her soul.<\/p>\n
