{"id":8885,"date":"2013-11-05T15:18:00","date_gmt":"2013-11-05T23:18:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sjcctimes.com\/?p=8885"},"modified":"2013-11-05T16:06:24","modified_gmt":"2013-11-06T00:06:24","slug":"fan-performs-with-paramore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sjcctimes.com\/es\/8885\/arts-entertainment\/fan-performs-with-paramore\/","title":{"rendered":"Fan performs with Paramore"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Band mates rocked out to a set list of \u00a0pop-rock songs about growing up<\/p>\n<p>[portfolio_slideshow id=8885]<\/p>\n<p>Alternative rock band Paramore, led by front woman Hayley Williams, rioted with fans inside San Jose\u2019s newly-renamed SAP Center on Friday, Oct. 18.<\/p>\n<p>Williams chose a fan named Mark from the audience to sing the last half of the band\u2019s breakout hit \u201cMisery Business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The fan wore skinny jeans and a shirt Williams described by saying \u201cyou\u2019re shirt has Misery Business all over it. I used to wear that same shirt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Williams handed a microphone to Mark. He ironically sang the lyrics \u201cNow watch my wildest dreams come true \/ not one of them involving you.\u201d It was as if Mark had been preparing for this moment all his life.<\/p>\n<p>Many attendees of the show, including Grace Domecus, 19, San Francisco, said bringing Mark on stage was the best part of the show. \u201cHe totally owned it\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParamore is my favorite band. I\u2019ve seen them nine times, the first being in 2006.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Domecus said she enjoys the new sound of the band and described it as being more \u201cprog.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another new change seems to be the band\u2019s songs reflect a higher level of maturity.<\/p>\n<p>The opening song of the concert was \u201cGrow Up,\u201d in which Williams sang, \u201cSome of us have to grow up sometimes \/ so if I have to, I\u2019m gonna leave you behind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Williams gave a brief speech about how letting go of negativity in your life can be difficult, but necessary to move forward and free yourself from emotional pain.<\/p>\n<p>Another highlight of the show was the performance of the possible next single from the new self-titled album, \u201cAin\u2019t it fun.\u201d Williams welcomed a choir to come on stage.<\/p>\n<p>The choir swayed left to right in red silky robes while singing the lyrics, \u201cNo more crying to your mama \/ cause you\u2019re on your own in the real world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The band performed songs from all four of their studio albums as well as their biggest hits, including \u201cNow,\u201d \u201cIgnorance,\u201d \u201cDecode,\u201d \u201cThat\u2019s What You Get\u201d and \u201cPressure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Williams and bandmates Taylor York and Jeremy Davis showed their vivacious performing skills.<\/p>\n<p>All three members of the band put forth effort to interact with the audience by making eye contact with the crowd, moving from one side of the stage to the other and giving brief talks in between songs.<\/p>\n<p>Wearing black leather tights, a white cropped shirt and her signature bright orange hair, Williams proved to be a rock superstar.<\/p>\n<p>The legendary Fleetwood Mac hit \u201cLandslide\u201d was covered and mashed-up with their own song \u201cIn the Mourning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alex Luba\u2019s favorite part was the finale performance of \u201cStill into You.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI like the balloons that fell on the audience and were kicked around by the band,\u201d Luba, 19, said.<\/p>\n<p>The opening bands, Metric and Hellogoodbye, did a decent job of getting the crowd energized.<\/p>\n<p>The audience got their money\u2019s worth as Paramore did a great job rocking out to their songs.<\/p>\n<p>Paramore\u2019s North American leg of the tour will last until Dec. 18 before they start the Oceania leg.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have no complaints with the show,\u201d Shanel Tobarez, 21, said, \u201cI wasn\u2019t a huge fan of the band before, but I\u2019m definitely a bigger fan now.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Band mates rocked out to a set list of \u00a0pop-rock songs about growing up [portfolio_slideshow id=8885] Alternative rock band Paramore, led by front woman Hayley Williams, rioted with fans inside San Jose\u2019s newly-renamed SAP Center on Friday, Oct. 18.
