September marks the traditional beginning of the new network television season on the four major networks.<\/p>\n
New and anticipated shows will make their debut this fall on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox.<\/p>\n
Many of these shows will be canceled before the end of the season, while some will go on to become hit shows and last for years.<\/p>\n
\u201cSleepy Hollow,\u201d a modern interpretation of Washington Irving\u2019s short story, \u201cThe Legend of Sleepy Hollow,\u201d premiered Monday, Sept. 16 at 9 p.m. on Fox.<\/p>\n
\u201cMonday’s third episode drew eight million viewers and performed well with the young adults prized by advertisers,\u201d according to USA TODAY. \u00a0\u201cAfter just three episodes, Sleepy Hollow has earned a second season.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cDads,\u201d a comedy starring Emmy Award winner Seth Green and Emmy Award nominee Giovanni Ribisi, premiered Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 8 p.m. on Fox.<\/p>\n
\u201cFamily Guy\u201d creator Seth MacFarlane is part of the team that created the comedy that \u201cexplores the often treacherous terrain of the father-son landscape,\u201d according to Fox.<\/p>\n
Fox also introduced \u201cBrooklyn Nine-Nine,\u201d a comedy starring Emmy Award winners Andy Samberg and Andre Braugher, which premiered at 8:30 p.m. following \u201cDads.\u201d<\/p>\n
Samberg is known mostly for his sketches on \u201cSaturday Night Live,\u201d where he was a cast member from 2005 to 2012.<\/p>\n
\u201cMom,\u201d a comedy created by Chuck Lorre, which stars Anna Faris and Allison Janney, premiered Monday, Sept. 23 at 9:30 p.m. on CBS.<\/p>\n
Lorre is responsible for creating hit television shows such as \u201cThe Big Bang Theory,\u201d and \u201cTwo and a Half Men.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cMom\u201d is a show about three generations of women who had children at a young age, and in the series premiere, Faris\u2019 character finds out that her teenage daughter is pregnant.<\/p>\n
CBS also introduced \u201cHostages,\u201d a drama starring Emmy Award winner Toni Collette and Golden Globe Award winner Dylan McDermott, after \u201cMom\u201d on Sept. 23 at 10 p.m.<\/p>\n
\u201cHostages\u201d is a \u201chigh-octane suspense drama about Dr. Ellen Sanders, a premiere surgeon thrust into a chilling political conspiracy when her family is taken hostage by rogue FBI agent Duncan Carlisle,\u201d according to CBS.<\/p>\n
NBC\u2019s new drama, \u201cThe Blacklist,\u201d also premiered Sept. 23 at 10 p.m.<\/p>\n
ABC introduced \u201cThe Goldbergs\u201d and \u201cTrophy Wife,\u201d family comedies that premiered Sept. 24 at 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. respectively.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Crazy Ones,\u201d a comedy from CBS, stars Academy Award winner Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar; it premiered Thursday, Sept. 26 at 9 p.m.<\/p>\n
According to CBS News, this is Williams\u2019 first return to the small screen since \u201cMork and Mindy,\u201d whose final episode aired 31 years ago.<\/p>\n
Emmy-nominated actor Michael J. Fox stars in NBC\u2019s new comedy, \u201cThe Michael J. Fox Show,\u201d which premiered Sept. 26 at 9 p.m.<\/p>\n
\u201cThursday night\u2019s battle of returning \u201980s sitcom icons was no contest,\u201d according to Entertainment Weekly. \u00a0\u201cThe premiere of Robin Williams\u2019 new CBS comedy The Crazy Ones hugely out-performed the return of Michael J. Fox to NBC.\u201d<\/p>\n
CBS introduced \u201cWe Are Men,\u201d starring actors Kal Penn and Jerry O\u2019Connell, Monday, Sept. 30 at 8:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
NBC\u2019s drama \u201cIronside\u201d premiered Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 10 p.m.<\/p>\n
\u201cIronside\u201d stars Blair Underwood, an award-winning actor, director and producer; and Spencer Grammer, daughter of actor Kelsey Grammer.<\/p>\n
NBC introduced \u201cSean Saves the World,\u201d a comedy starring Sean Hayes on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 9 p.m.<\/p>\n
Hayes is known for his role as Jack McFarland on NBC\u2019s Emmy winning comedy, \u201cWill and Grace,\u201d which ended in 2006.<\/p>\n
ABC\u2019s \u201cOnce Upon a Time in Wonderland,\u201d a spin-off of their show, \u201cOnce Upon a Time,\u201d will premiere Thursday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m.<\/p>\n
\u201cOnly time will tell whether Wonderland can bring that same magic as the flagship series, but producers are wasting no time in making sure the spin-off has solid footing,\u201d according to TV Guide.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn addition to having a strong and recognizable female protagonist, they’ve already promised there will be some crossover with the Once characters \u2026 hopefully it will be enough to get ABC out of its Thursday at 8\/7c funk, TV Guide said.\u201d<\/p>\n
