An uproar has occurred over how San Jose City College is spending approximately $31 million of the money they were given from the Measure G-2010 Bond.<\/p>\n
Some faculty members say they do not feel the building of the Media Arts Center goes along with the original ballot language.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe bond measure ballot language, which I have read, specifically says that money is to be used to build a new Vocational Technology building,\u201d Charles Heimler, English instructor, said, \u201cand to upgrade the infrastructure of the college and to build buildings and facilities for programs that focus on getting students jobs. \u2026 And that\u2019s not what is happening.\u201d<\/p>\n
Administrators say the construction of the Media Arts Center does fit the original ballot language.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe bond language does not have any buildings specifically listed in the language, it gives you parameters, but it does not give you specific buildings,\u201d Vice President of Administrative Services Greg Nelson said.<\/p>\n
