San Jose Evergreen Community College District approved the new student body Senate Constitution.<\/p>\n
The new form of government is expected to be more representative of the student body and also provide more manpower to accomplish the work of student government than a club-run governing board.<\/p>\n
Student government president Mike Casas said, \u201cSan Jose City College is one of the last state community colleges to move from a club-run governing body to a senate form of government.\u201d<\/p>\n
Although the board overwhelmingly approved the constitution, the real working document of bylaws was approved by student government on April 17; board approval of the bylaws is expected April 23. It is the bylaws that explain and define the details of day-to-day student government operations, including the election process for student senators.<\/p>\n
In celebration of the board approval of the constitution, the ASG hosted a social and provided cake and sparkling cider to the board members and members of the audience.<\/p>\n

Chancellor Rita Cepeda released a document that lays out a partial timeline for selecting a new college president for SJCC.<\/p>\n
The college community will be invited to input their permanent president selection criteria during three pre-selection meetings scheduled between April 22 and May 10.<\/p>\n
