The San Jose City College Track and Field team remains consistent in their progress as the 2013 season begins.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe season is early, but very promising results,\u201d head coach David Flynn wrote in an email.<\/p>\n
Freshman, Lindsay McKee placed first in the Hammer Throw and broke an SJCC school record after throwing it 45.89 meters at Coast\/CVC Preview meet at College of San Mateo on Feb. 15, which was the first meet of the season. The previous record was 40.72 meters.<\/p>\n
A few days later, McKee took first place in the Women\u2019s Weight Throw after launching the weight 14.41 meters at the Run for the Dream track and field meet at Fresno State on Feb. 17.<\/p>\n
\u201cLindsey being a freshman and in her first Hammer Throw competition in college, we are very excited to find out what the season will hold for her,\u201d Flynn said.<\/p>\n
The Jaguars continued to work hard during practice and went into the All Coma Meet on Feb 23 at Monterey Peninsula College completely confident.<\/p>\n
Sophomore, Diamara Planell Cruz placed first in the Women\u2019s 100 meter and 200 meter yard dash as she ran 12.6 seconds and 26.58 seconds.<\/p>\n
Freshman, Luis Magana placed third in the Pole Vault and reached a personal record after clearing 13 feet.<\/p>\n
Sophomore, Jeremy Thompson received first place in the Men\u2019s Triple Jump after flying 46 feet, 3.5 inches, which puts him in the top five in the Norcal Region.<\/p>\n
SJCC will journey to Modest for the Jack Albiani Invitational Track and Field meet on March 8 and then return to visit De Anza College for the De Anza Invitational on March 15.<\/p>\n
