San Jose-Evergreen Community College District Police are on campus to help prevent and solve crime.<\/figcaption><\/figure>All students on campus need to know the best way to be involved in a learning environment without the fear of items being stolen or fear of walking around late.<\/p>\n

Lieutenant Ruben Chavez, 51, said that crimes on campus are pretty limited to theft, personal safety and relationship issues.<\/p>\n

“Students leave their items unattended and are more trusting than they should be,” Lt. Chavez said.<\/p>\n

The woman who was stealing from Cosmetology students was finally arrested early this semster, nearly six months later, and Lt. Chavez said that the Cosmetology was a very trusting and open environment before that.<\/p>\n

“Leaving items in your car in not even the best way to go,” Lt. Chavez said. “Locking the doors wont stop a thief from breaking into the car.”<\/p>\n

20-year-old twins, Jazmin and Areli Gonzalez said they understood the risks of bring valuables onto campus.<\/p>\n

“I am not going to bring my laptop to school, I only bring my books and school supplies,” Jazmin Gonzalez said. “And even if I did I would be more cautious.”<\/p>\n

The two accounting students said they know the risks of bringing\u00a0 certain items to school.<\/p>\n

But more that putting your things away in lockers or a safe place, Lt. Chavez said that student need to avoid crime on campus maintaining their own personal safety.<\/p>\n

“Staff, faculty and students need to be aware of their surroundings, especially at night,” Lt. Chavez said. “Anyone can call us and we will provide them with an escort.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
