The San Jose City College Dance Program, under the direction of Amber McCall, performed in \u201cTogether We Dance,\u201d the South Bay Community College Dance Collective\u2019s first dance concert on Saturday, Oct. 13 at West Valley College Theater.<\/p>\n

\u201cTogether We Dance\u201d included dancers from San Jose City, West Valley, Evergreen, Mission and Foothill colleges.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a nice bonding experience for the South Bay, at the community college level, to get together and appreciate everyone else\u2019s work,\u201d McCall said.<\/p>\n

The event was an opportunity for dancers and faculty to promote and share their passion for dance with the community.<\/p>\n

Seventy-six dancers, including six from SJCC, performed genres as diverse as ballet, hip-hop, tap, Bollywood, modern, jazz and ballroom dances, such as salsa, rumba and cha-cha, in a show that lasted two hours.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome of the pieces were faculty choreographed, and some others were students choreographed,\u201d McCall said.<\/p>\n

Out of the three pieces SJCC performed, \u201cTutu Couture\u201d was choreographed by McCall, while the rest of the dances were created by SJCC students.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
