They were eventually defeated 14-23.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe team has to work on finishing the game right. We have leads late in games, but then we let the other team score so you know we don\u2019t win on the scoreboard,\u201d said Head Coach Jim Winkler, who has been coaching at the junior college level for 20 years.<\/p>\n<p>Assistant Coach Tim Duran expressed he felt similar to Winkler and addressed some of the team\u2019s biggest issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe team hasn\u2019t necessarily learned how to put teams away, if you look at all the games throughout the season you know we jumped out to some pretty big leads sometimes and instead of being able to keep the gas and the pressure on the other teams, we kind of let them climb back into some games and we shouldn\u2019t,\u201d stated Duran, who has been with the team since 2019. \u201cSo I think that\u2019s our biggest issue, at least offensively.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_17067\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17067\" style=\"width: 475px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-17067\" src=\"https:\/\/sjcctimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/0J5A3870-copy-475x317.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"317\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sjcctimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/0J5A3870-copy-475x317.jpg 475w, https:\/\/sjcctimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/0J5A3870-copy-900x600.jpg 900w, https:\/\/sjcctimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/0J5A3870-copy-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sjcctimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/0J5A3870-copy-122x80.jpg 122w, https:\/\/sjcctimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/0J5A3870-copy-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sjcctimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/0J5A3870-copy.jpg 1501w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 475px) 100vw, 475px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-17067\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">San Jose Jaguars Quarterback Jared Julian pivoting against an oncoming player from Monterey Peninsula College (Photo by Oscar Lopez \/ Contributor)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Quarterback Jared Julian said it means a lot to the team to have fans in the stands during the home games.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it just gives it that extra bit of moral support to see fans,\u201d Julian said.<\/p>\n<p>Family and friends of the Jaguar players expressed how they felt about the game.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s doing really well and it was just about her son finding a balance his first year here,\u201d stated attendee Dyema Jackson, mother of Jaguar player jersey number 22, Issac Hawkins.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe stresses himself too much as a first year player,\u201d stated Hawkins\u2019 girlfriend Elizabeth Diaz.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst off, I like the new field, it looks amazing, my first time seeing it,\u201d said Keion Curry, 26, who attended the game. Curry once played his freshman and sophomore year, who was giving his own thoughts on the teams in the last home game of the season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSecond off, you know I don\u2019t think it\u2019s the way we wanted to see it go out the season&#8217;s last home game, but the Jaguars played their hearts out. (Photo by Oscar Lopez \/ Contributor)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>After the game, Assistant Head Coach Andy Gonzalez said the game felt like it was a \u201crollercoaster of a ride.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe controlled our destiny and we made some minimal mistakes offensively that cost us field position in time and also scoring opportunities that we need to clean up moving forward,\u201d Gonzalez said.<\/p>\n<p>Jaguar player Nicholas Morris, number 23, said he wants to focus on working harder to learn from their past mistakes and grow as a team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe defense played great,\u201d Curry said. \u201cI feel like on the offense you have to hold our blocks a little more and give our quarterback a little more time to make a play because he\u2019s making good plays.
