The San Jose City College football team suffered another loss against Gavilan College on Saturday, Oct. 22.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnother tough loss,\u201d said Jared Julian, quarterback for the Jaguars. \u201cA game we felt like we should\u2019ve won, but weren\u2019t able to get it done.\u201d<\/p>\n
The final score was 39-23.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe made some mistakes we couldn\u2019t recover from,\u201d said Raymond Cook, defensive backs coach.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe did have some big plays,\u201d Cook said.<\/p>\n
Felipe Esparza, freshman quarterback for the Jaguars saw action Saturday, Oct. 23 against the Gavilan College going 10-19, 172 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception.<\/p>\n
Nick Morris, freshman cornerback had a pick 6, making this 2 consecutive games where the defense put up points on the board.<\/p>\n
He also highlighted running back Aslan Carvalhos\u2019s performance who had 135 yards, making this also the second back-to-back game with over 100 yards.<\/p>\n
The Jaguars will host Hartnell College on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis week we play a very fast and physical team,\u201d Cook said. \u201cwe\u2019re looking to get up on them early and put them into a play from behind game script.\u201d<\/p>\n
This upcoming game against Hartnell will be the last home game for the Jaguars, who have not won at home.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo extra pressure,\u201d Julian said. \u201cWe\u2019re feeling loose and ready to get a home win.\u201d<\/p>\n
Despite the six game losing streak the Jaguars hold, this has not produced any added pressure within the team.<\/p>\n
\u201cNot necessarily pressure,\u201d Cook said. \u201cWe’d love to send our sophomores out the right way.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also mentioned how the goal is to get the sophomores a chance to get good offers and opportunities.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have an extremely young team and the first year this coaching staff has worked together,\u201d Cook said. \u201cThe future is still extremely bright.\u201d<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
