{"id":11282,"date":"2016-12-08T12:06:55","date_gmt":"2016-12-08T20:06:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sjcctimes.com\/?p=11282"},"modified":"2016-12-08T13:04:34","modified_gmt":"2016-12-08T21:04:34","slug":"out-of-darkness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sjcctimes.com\/es\/11282\/showcase\/out-of-darkness\/","title":{"rendered":"Out of Darkness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Movement emerges?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Reflecting on some of the most tragic incidents<br \/>\nthat have happened this year throughout the country<br \/>\nsuch as the Orlando shooting, San Jose City College<br \/>\ndancers used dance to share their emotion through<br \/>\nmovement in their annual student choreographed<br \/>\nperformances.<br \/>\nSome more elaborate than others, each piece was<br \/>\ndelightful to see but three individual pieces stood<br \/>\nout the most.<br \/>\nAmong them was a piece called Introspection, choreographed<br \/>\nand performed by 22-year-old dance\/<br \/>\nsociology major, Tashiana Baisy. This honest and<br \/>\nenergetic performance was filled with every emotion<br \/>\nwe experience daily in life which made it particularly<br \/>\nmemorable.<br \/>\nThe next piece called Fluidly Poetic, choreographed<br \/>\nand performed by Melissa Mendez. This<br \/>\npiece was the most technical; combined with gymnastics<br \/>\nand dance, Mendez performed the entire<br \/>\npiece as a dark shadow in front of a vibrant red<br \/>\nbackground.<br \/>\nFinally, 26-year-old lyrical choreographer and<br \/>\ndancer, Pablo Baltazar\u2019s individual performance<br \/>\nwas the most awe-inspiring piece filled with raw<br \/>\nemotion.<br \/>\nThe bright primary colors made each performance<br \/>\nmuch more unique and interesting to<br \/>\nwatch. Even though I did not always understand<br \/>\nthe message behind their beautiful movements, the<br \/>\nemotion behind their language was universal and<br \/>\neasy to make up my own translation.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Movement emerges?
