We spread violence to<br \/>\nothers, in turn create more conflict<br \/>\nand strife.<br \/>\nWe endlessly hunger for more<br \/>\nuntil we take more than we need.<br \/>\nThe faith we have is our only<br \/>\nmoral code, but it will slowly<br \/>\nerode until we are left with a hollow<br \/>\nsense of self-worth.<br \/>\nBlind optimism keeps us from<br \/>\nconfronting deeper problems and<br \/>\nexploring lasting solutions.<br \/>\nThe media distracts us from<br \/>\nfocusing on the bigger problems,<br \/>\ninstead shifting our focus on other<br \/>\ntopics until we lose sight of the<br \/>\nbig picture.<br \/>\nJustice<br \/>\nI envision a future where justice<br \/>\ntruly is blind, where people<br \/>\nare innocent until proven guilty<br \/>\nbeyond a reasonable doubt. Today<br \/>\nthe justice system serves only<br \/>\nthose who can afford a good attorney,<br \/>\nthe guilty are set free and<br \/>\nthe innocent accept blame without<br \/>\nproper representation.<br \/>\nThe fact that the minority and<br \/>\npoor populations are being convicted<br \/>\nand incarcerated at a very<br \/>\nhigh rate is proof that justice is<br \/>\nnot blind. This country\u2019s judicial<br \/>\nsystem is too young to be perfect<br \/>\nand it\u2019s been proven to be unjust<br \/>\nby a large margin.<br \/>\nEquality<br \/>\nWhile we are not born under<br \/>\nequal circumstances, we all are<br \/>\nhuman and we must have equal<br \/>\nrights to strive for equal opportunities.<br \/>\nMy ideal future includes a<br \/>\nnation that values equality; where<br \/>\nwe all share the same rights, resources,<br \/>\neducation and chance in<br \/>\nthe pursuit of happiness.<br \/>\nI envision a future where freedom<br \/>\nis universal and not trumped<br \/>\nby borders, religion, income, education<br \/>\nor genetics, where morals<br \/>\nand ethics are valued rather than<br \/>\nwealth and celebrity.<br \/>\nEducation<br \/>\nI hope for a future where education<br \/>\nis valued as a right, not a<br \/>\nprivilege; a right and necessity<br \/>\nrather than an entitlement provided<br \/>\nto only those born to the right<br \/>\nfamilies. Education provides people<br \/>\nwith the ability to be self-sustaining,<br \/>\ncreates self-worth and<br \/>\nbolsters the economy.<br \/>\nFinancial security serves to<br \/>\nstrengthen families and communities,<br \/>\nwhile reducing crime and<br \/>\nincarceration.<br \/>\nSolutions<br \/>\nMy future world would incentive<br \/>\nemployment and education,<br \/>\nrather than punish and isolate disadvantaged<br \/>\ncommunities.<br \/>\nWe need to promote an open<br \/>\ndiscussion as to where our country<br \/>\nis headed, to prevent the nation<br \/>\nfrom slipping into a regressive<br \/>\nstance on polices that bind<br \/>\nour thoughts.<br \/>\nTo allow fear and anger to<br \/>\nblind us in the face of adversity,<br \/>\nkeeps us from making rational<br \/>\ndecisions.
