Exercise empathy, respect, celebrate differences<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

War, famine, poverty and corruption
\npermeate our society like
\na virus. We spread violence to
\nothers, in turn create more conflict
\nand strife.
\nWe endlessly hunger for more
\nuntil we take more than we need.
\nThe faith we have is our only
\nmoral code, but it will slowly
\nerode until we are left with a hollow
\nsense of self-worth.
\nBlind optimism keeps us from
\nconfronting deeper problems and
\nexploring lasting solutions.
\nThe media distracts us from
\nfocusing on the bigger problems,
\ninstead shifting our focus on other
\ntopics until we lose sight of the
\nbig picture.
\nJustice
\nI envision a future where justice
\ntruly is blind, where people
\nare innocent until proven guilty
\nbeyond a reasonable doubt. Today
\nthe justice system serves only
\nthose who can afford a good attorney,
\nthe guilty are set free and
\nthe innocent accept blame without
\nproper representation.
\nThe fact that the minority and
\npoor populations are being convicted
\nand incarcerated at a very
\nhigh rate is proof that justice is
\nnot blind. This country\u2019s judicial
\nsystem is too young to be perfect
\nand it\u2019s been proven to be unjust
\nby a large margin.
\nEquality
\nWhile we are not born under
\nequal circumstances, we all are
\nhuman and we must have equal
\nrights to strive for equal opportunities.
\nMy ideal future includes a
\nnation that values equality; where
\nwe all share the same rights, resources,
\neducation and chance in
\nthe pursuit of happiness.
\nI envision a future where freedom
\nis universal and not trumped
\nby borders, religion, income, education
\nor genetics, where morals
\nand ethics are valued rather than
\nwealth and celebrity.
\nEducation
\nI hope for a future where education
\nis valued as a right, not a
\nprivilege; a right and necessity
\nrather than an entitlement provided
\nto only those born to the right
\nfamilies. Education provides people
\nwith the ability to be self-sustaining,
\ncreates self-worth and
\nbolsters the economy.
\nFinancial security serves to
\nstrengthen families and communities,
\nwhile reducing crime and
\nincarceration.
\nSolutions
\nMy future world would incentive
\nemployment and education,
\nrather than punish and isolate disadvantaged
\ncommunities.
\nWe need to promote an open
\ndiscussion as to where our country
\nis headed, to prevent the nation
\nfrom slipping into a regressive
\nstance on polices that bind
\nour thoughts.
\nTo allow fear and anger to
\nblind us in the face of adversity,
\nkeeps us from making rational
\ndecisions. We must encourage
\nand appreciate our differences,
\nlearn from the experience of our
\nneighbor and reject intolerance
