Dia de Los Muertos show<\/strong><\/p>\n

San Jose City College gallery
\nhosted a special exhibition for Dia
\nde Los Muertos on Nov. 2 and
\nNov. 10, to celebrate a Mexican
\nholiday for the dead people.
\nIn Mexican culture, people
\ngather together to pray for their
\npast family or friends on Dia de
\nLos Muerto day.
\nOn the Nov. 2, the exhibition
\nhad built a tiny altar with some
\nbread and other food in order to
\nshow the respect for the past.
\nThe atmosphere of death theme
\nwas enhanced by showing paints
\nin black and white.
\nThere also pretty skeleton
\nshowed.
\n\u201cOne of the altars was created by
\na Mexican club in campus named
\nM.E.Ch.A, they put pictures of
\nfamous Mexican people who had
\npassed away,\u201d said Jason Adkins,
\nthe art professor and the charger
\nof the event. \u201cThere are also
\ndifferent symbolisms, the flowers,
\nthe bread, and the candles to light
\nthe way of the spiritual journey of
\nthe dead people.\u201d
\nAt 1pm, cosmetology students
\ncame to offer black and white face
\npainting. Adkins was very excited
\nabout his face after painted. He
\ndiscussed with cosmetology
\nstudents how to make the color
\nstay longer by using foundation
\nas a primer.
\nA Mexican student, Jose Luis
\nPinal said \u201cI think it\u2019s a good way
\nof showing our Mexican culture
\nto college students and staff. Also
\nSJCC has a lot of ethnicities and
\nit\u2019s nice to learn from each other
\nbackground.\u201d
\nOn Nov. 10, a music band
\ncalled Las Cafeteras performed
\non the grass in front of the art
\nbuilding. Mexican food was
\nalso provided at the cross of
\nthe Science building and multidisciplinary
\nbuilding. Many
\nstudents sat on the stairs to see the
\nshow and enjoyed the food.
\n\u201cWe are here to encourage
\nstudents to love themselves,
\nwhere do they come from – their
\nroot,\u201d said Daniel French, the
\nsinger of the band. \u201cAlso to cheer
\nup people. Many people are upset
