{"id":1034,"date":"2010-11-08T13:42:55","date_gmt":"2010-11-08T21:42:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sjcctimes.com\/?p=1034"},"modified":"2012-02-15T13:59:34","modified_gmt":"2012-02-15T21:59:34","slug":"local-voters-ok-268-million-bond","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sjcctimes.com\/es\/1034\/news\/local-voters-ok-268-million-bond\/","title":{"rendered":"Local voters OK $268 million bond"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><figure id=\"attachment_1035\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1035\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">[media-credit id=36 align=&#8221;alignnone&#8221; width=&#8221;400&#8243;]<a href=\"http:\/\/sjcctimes.com\/news\/local-voters-ok-268-million-bond\/attachment\/screen-shot-2012-02-15-at-1-45-52-pm\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1035\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/sjcctimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Screen-Shot-2012-02-15-at-1.45.52-PM-400x524.png\" alt=\"Local voters OK $268 million bond\" title=\"Local voters OK $268 million bond\" width=\"400\" height=\"524\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1035\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sjcctimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Screen-Shot-2012-02-15-at-1.45.52-PM-400x524.png 400w, https:\/\/sjcctimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Screen-Shot-2012-02-15-at-1.45.52-PM.png 498w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a>[\/media-credit]<figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1035\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Voters took to the polls on Nov. 2 to help San Jose City College pay for future projects.<\/figcaption><\/figure>Measure G passed last Tuesday receiving 58.65% of the votes according to the Santa Clara County website.<\/p>\n<p>Measure G is a facilities bond measure which would allow the San Jose\/Evergreen Community College district to borrow 268 million from property owners in the 535 precincts around the campus.<\/p>\n<p>The rate the property owners would have to pay is $9.60 for every 100,000 of assessed property value for approximately 30 years according to http:\/\/www.sjeccd.edu.<\/p>\n<p>The bond will help pay for upgrades outlined in the Facilities Master Plan through 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Rudy Nasol, project manager for SJCC, said that one project that will benefit from the measure is the projected Physical Education Complex.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can do the whole thing at once instead of phases,\u201d said Nasol<\/p>\n<p>Nasol also said that the board of trustees made the decision to install solar panels to the new multi-disciplinary building.\u00a0 These panels will be funded by the new measure.<\/p>\n<p>Maria Fuentes re-elected board of trustees member said that now that the measure has passed it will be easier to address the district budget.<\/p>\n<p>The budget did not allow for some projects to be implemented sooner and with all the safety issues at San Jose city college Chief of Police Ray Aguirre said that he plans to create new infrastructure to keep the campus safe like towers with call boxes to alert police in case of an emergency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s an investment we have to commit to,\u201d said Aguirre during a safety report given at a Student Center staff retreat on October 29.<\/p>\n<p>He also said that nothing of that sort had been built yet because the budget did not allow for it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Measure G passed last Tuesday receiving 58.65% of the votes according to the Santa Clara County website.
