Hey Sal,<\/strong>
\nI have been going out with\u00a0this girl for a little under a year.\u00a0Recently, I\u2019ve met this new girl\u00a0and we talk constantly. Our\u00a0conversations are so fun and\u00a0I feel like I might be catching\u00a0\u201cthe feels\u201d. Don\u2019t get me\u00a0wrong, I really like my\u00a0girlfriend, but it seems to\u00a0me that this new girl and\u00a0I have a great connection.\u00a0When we talk it seems\u00a0like I have no worries in\u00a0the world. I feel bad because\u00a0I met this new girl\u00a0through my girlfriend at a\u00a0party we went to. We haven\u2019t\u00a0done anything besides talk, but\u00a0I feel like I prefer conversations\u00a0and hanging out with her\u00a0over conversations with my\u00a0girlfriend. What do I do?

\nSounds like you are in a predicament.\u00a0It seems like you\u00a0and this new girl enjoy each\u00a0other\u2019s company. There is\u00a0nothing wrong with this, you\u00a0can be in a relationship and\u00a0talk to others as long as you aren\u2019t\u00a0running around and being\u00a0sneaky behind their back.<\/p>\n

However, you say you are\u00a0catching some feelings for this\u00a0girl. Catching feelings for two\u00a0different people is a dangerous\u00a0path to travel so I suggest\u00a0you tread it lightly. You might really have a future with this\u00a0new girl, but in order to know\u00a0for sure it would require you to\u00a0break your current girlfriend\u2019s\u00a0heart and break up with her. I\u00a0know this could be hard but it\u00a0is better than going behind her\u00a0back and cheating on her with\u00a0her own friend. It\u2019s best to be\u00a0honest in these situations.<\/p>\n

Dating is to find that person\u00a0who you really want to\u00a0be with, and if you definitely\u00a0found somebody who you\u00a0want to be with, then I think\u00a0you should go for it. Of course\u00a0it will be hard, but in the long\u00a0run it will be best for you and\u00a0your girlfriend because you\u00a0shouldn\u2019t be with somebody\u00a0if you there is another person\u00a0you like more. Both of you\u00a0guys deserve to be happy. The\u00a0further this goes on while you\u00a0are in a relationship the chance\u00a0of it ending well becomes less\u00a0and less likely.<\/p>\n

The best advice I have for\u00a0you is to be honest with your\u00a0girlfriend and tell her the truth\u00a0about how you feel. She might\u00a0be crushed at first, but she will\u00a0appreciate the honesty in the\u00a0long run. This will allow you\u00a0to step back and think if you\u00a0truly like this new girl or if she\u00a0is just a fling. If you realize\u00a0that your current girlfriend is\u00a0the one for you, then you can\u00a0always try to win her back, and\u00a0you\u2019ll have a better shot since\u00a0you were honest and upfront\u00a0from the beginning. If you\u00a0act shady and get caught then\u00a0you will surely lose your current\u00a0girlfriend. Make sure the\u00a0choice you make is what you\u00a0really want because it\u2019ll affect\u00a0more than just you. Don\u2019t be\u00a0afraid to do what you want\u00a0to do. You deserve to have\u00a0the girl that makes you happy\u00a0and I hope the one you choose\u00a0does just that.
