\nWhen you are new on campus,\u00a0it may be nice to receive some\u00a0helpful hints or friendly advice to\u00a0make your life here a bit easier.<\/p>\n

After almost 18 years of no\u00a0school before coming to college\u00a0it was completely overwhelming. I remember wishing there was a\u00a0secret to do list to act as a guide.\u00a0Luckily, you will not have to\u00a0l worry because one has been\u00a0created to help you at SJCC.<\/p>\n

Financial Aid<\/strong><\/p>\n

Try your very best to not get\u00a0frustrated with financial aid; the\u00a0financial aid staff are probably\u00a0frustrated themselves dealing\u00a0with thousands of students. This\u00a0is one of those times you should\u00a0remember that patience is a virtue.<\/p>\n

Counselors<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you seem to be having trouble\u00a0online with finding and choosing\u00a0classes, don\u2019t give up; simply just\u00a0go see a counselor, even during\u00a0walk- in hours, they are all extremely\u00a0nice and can quickly answer\u00a0any problem you may have.<\/p>\n

Textbooks<\/strong><\/p>\n

When it comes to buying books,\u00a0the price of some may be jaw\u00a0dropping, but again don\u2019t let this\u00a0discourage you. There are many\u00a0little tricks to help, so you have\u00a0that book in class.<\/p>\n

Of course there is the bookstore\u00a0or Amazon, which you can\u00a0normally find good cheap prices\u00a0on used textbooks. Also you can\u00a0always borrow the book from the\u00a0library for about two hours.<\/p>\n

Finally in a worst case scenario,\u00a0you can hope that someone\u00a0in your class is kind enough to\u00a0share.<\/p>\n

There should be no reason why\u00a0you show up for class without the required textbook.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t get lost<\/strong><\/p>\n

Don\u2019t let yourself get lost either,\u00a0just ask a fellow student for help.\u00a0You will find most people are fairly\u00a0pleasant and can lead you in the\u00a0right direction or just simply use\u00a0the map on page 4 and 5.\u00a0Most importantly, welcome to\u00a0San Jose City College, good luck\u00a0and enjoy college life!<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
