Karla Andrea Meza Flores celebrates her CCMA award win at the City College Times newsroom on March 3, 2020. The Times picked up five gongs at the Feb. 29 CCMA 2020 Excellence in Student Media competition.

The City College Times won five awards at the California College Media Association’s 2020 Excellence in Student Media competition.

The competition included entries from 65 California colleges and universities.

The winners were announced at the CCMA Awards Banquet on Saturday, Feb. 29 during the Associated Collegiate Press Midwinter Journalism Convention at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in San Francisco.

The winners are:

  • Jason Lin, 1st place for best online ad
  • Karla Andrea Meza Flores, 3rd place for news video
  • Magnolia Lonero, 3rd place for infographic
  • Krissy Tobey, 3rd place for headline writing
  • Mikie Negrete, Kayne Gallegos, 3rd place for editorial
