The track and field team battled the weather at the Coast Conference Championships and made its presence known with three conference champions.
The meet took place at City College of San Mateo from April 23 to April 26.
“The wind played a big role,” said David Flynn, head coach.
Sophomore Alyana Nicolas won the pole vault, being the only one to make a jump at a height of 2.94 meters.
Freshman Keanu Foki won the discus-throw event with a distance of 47.11 meters. Foki finished first of 15 participants and won by a deficit of 6.18 meters.
“He used the wind to his advantage,” Flynn said.
Sophomore Lindsay McKee won the hammer-throw with a distance of 51.87 meters.
Other standouts include Sophomore Jayme Gonzalez, who excelled in the discus-throw, javelin-throw, shot put and hammer-throw.
The qualifying Jaguars competed next at the NorCal Track and Field Championships on May 2 at De Anza College.
